By now you’ve probably realized that I live an active lifestyle. I enjoy working out and eating healthy, for so many reasons. People often ask me the workouts I do, or how I stay motivated. I get asked the question enough, that I thought I would address it in depth.
For me, staying motivated is more about not getting bored with my routine. Basically, I like to switch it up. I don’t work out in a gym, I personally out grew it a while ago. I think they are great, but for me, I have the discipline and desire to workout in the world and enjoy the fresh air, so I do. I also love to try new workout routines, and feel like that’s easier for me to do with my schedule, outside of a gym.
It’s my opinion the switching up your workout routine not only keeps you motivated, but it’s fun, and it gives you a very well rounded, toned body-because you’re working out your muscles in various ways. The best part about it, if you love the routine or workout, you can easily do it again. Always remember to consult your doctor before trying out any workout routine, just to make sure your body is up for the challenge.
Some of the routines that I love to do again and again:
Running: For cardio, you can’t beat it. It’s quick, easy, you can do it just about anywhere and it makes your legs look AMAZING! Nic TiP: Buy proper running shoes. A runners feet are extremely important to this sport. Buy your shoes 1/2 size larger than normal. Why? Because as you run, your feet will swell, and you’ll need that extra 1/2 size to accommodate your expanding foot. Also, get fitted for your shoe (if you can). The way your foot naturally pronates (or rotates as it moves through the heel to toe action) varies from person to person and shoe to shoe. You want to make sure you’re wearing the right shoe for your pronation. My go to shoe since high school has been the Nike Air Pegasus, it has a neutral pronation, more narrow toe box (I have a normal to narrow foot width), and they have nice arch support, (I have high arches). Available from Nike

Yoga: Now I’ll be the first one to admit it, Yoga is not my favorite. That said, it will tone and stretch you with some of the best exercises out there. Yoga works by isolating the muscles and requires you to not only stabilize your core, but also many other of your large and fine muscle groups. The best part, is that it also gives you a great stretch and is a good exercise to do when you need a low impact workout day. This will be great to do after a day of running or H.I.I.T (High Intensity Interval Training). Most cities have yoga studios where you can take single classes, they also have it on demand now with most cable packages. Gaiam.com also offers great yoga videos and equipment. As seen on Good Morning america and Oprah – Bob Greene: Total Body Makeover DVD. Now Only $14.98
