I recently went through a skin emergency! I had this random breakout-I rarely have skin problems- so I was very concerned and didn’t know what to do. This week’s edition of The Weekly Scoop is dedicated to skin breakouts, how to prevent them and clear them up.
For the problem I experienced, I first focused on what it felt like. My face was itchy and very oily, like an allergic reaction to something. So I did some research, and learned a few things about skin in general and combined that knowledge with what was currently going on with my face. I learned that there was bacteria on it. Once I knew that, I just needed to figure out how to kill the bacteria. I found an antibacterial cleansing bar from Cetaphil, I got mine from Duane Reade for about $5.00. This prevented the bacteria from continuing to grow and produce on my skin. I also learned that to kill the bacteria I already had, benzol peroxide is great! It can be drying to the skin though. I found Netrogena’s On the Spot blemish corrector that contains a minimal amount of benzoyl peroxide (2.5% vs. 10% as is in most other brands). Literally, my skin cleared up in a few days and is back to normal just by using these two products. Actually, my skin is in better condition than it was before.
I’m so glad that my skin is back to normal. It really can make you feel self conscious when waling around with bad skin. Tomorrow, I’ll talk about products I’m researching to keep my skin in good condition after my 1 week bout with adult acne.
*Note that these products worked for my skin and the problems I was experiencing. Always consult your dermatologist before using these or any other acne skin care products.
