Pore Real

I work out. ALOT. I love it! I love the way I look and feel as a result. I also love the commitment to my health and how it works with my lifelong goals. As a swimsuit designer, I feel as tough I need to be able to actually wear the pieces I create and I can. But one of the side effects of working out that many people don’t talk about is clogged pores.

My workouts last for almost 2 hours and I’m sweating the majority of that time from the intense cardio and weight training. My pores suffer because of it. In the beginning, I didn’t know why my skin was changing I thought it may be adult acne, or an allergic reaction to something. After a facial, I learned that my pores were simply clogged from the bacteria from the sweat. My skin looks amazing now, because I followed these tips:

Cleansing wipes: I use a cleansing wipe with salicylic acid in it immediately after my workout. I literally keep them in my gym bag. The salicylic acid helps to prevent breakouts and clean my pores, so no bacteria can form in them. I use the ones from Sephora, in the green package or Biore.

Washing my face: I wash my face in the morning and at night. My regime at night includes preventative steps to help minimize pores and reduce breakouts. I use an antibacterial cleanser to help kill any bacteria that my cleansing wipes didn’t get, I steam my face twice a week to help with removing any build up in my pores, and I exfoliate once a week. It may sound like a lot, but the proof is in the skin. Check out some of my previous blog posts to see what antibacterial cleanser I use!

Drink Water: This is a two-fold benefit. Because I’m loosing so much water from working out, I need to dring water to hydrate, but it’s also helping me with my skin an keeping it clear.
