Burn Notice

With the weather sonic and everyone being outside more, I’ve been seeing sun burns more and more. If you’ve given your burn notice to the world no doubt you’re walking around in pain. Sun burn is a tricky thing, because it can happen so quickly, and if you have skin, it can happen to you-despite the rumors you may have heard to the contrary. The tips we’ll talk about today, will also work for any skin type, pale or dark. So jot down a few notes and let’s heal.

Hydrate: ever notice how everything goes back to water? drink plenty of water to begin to hydrate the skin, and heal it internally. We are 80% water after all. Also take cool showers to help sooth your burnt skin. Pat dry with your towel to prevent from over drying the skin and irritating it; leave some water on it.

Aloe or products with aloe in them. The aloe is cool and soothing (sometimes called aloe vera, or aloe ver gel), just what your skin needs now. Your skin will absorb the aloe, and the aloe will help to prevent bacteria  and increase circulation in the tiny blood vessels in the skin. (www.webmd.com). If you don;t have access to an aloe plant to get it directly from the source, try some of these lotions to help you. Try Kiehl’s Deluxe Hand and Body Lotion with Aloe Vera and Oatmeal: www.kiehls.com. It’s available in four scents and the combination of the oatmeal will also help to heal.

Take Tylenol if your burn is really bad. If you are experiencing blisters or any other skin irregularities as a result, visit your doctor, because your burn could be more serious than you think.
