I’ve never been one for the shimmery shiny lipsticks that everyone seems to rock. When I first began to really get into makeup, I never got into lip products because it was all unappealing. Then the matte lip trend rolled around and it finally seemed like there was something for me. Since then, I’ve learned what brands work for me and they’re all inexpensive products! The two of these brands come in an array of shades great for everybody. They’re comfortable, long-lasting, and very pigmented.
NYX ‘Soft Matte Lip Cream’
NYX has a great range of shades and is so comfortable on the lips. I usually only have to do one coat when I wear this brand. It helps a bunch if you take a clean finger and blot all over your lips after applying. It dries quicker because you took off the excess and it’s smooth and soft when it dries. They usually price it at $6.50 but can be found cheaper at drug and grocery stores.
Colourpop ‘Ultra Matte Lip’
ColourPop is a new staple brand that I came about a couple years ago. I was skeptical at first because of the price and consistency but found I shouldn’t have been. Although the lipstick is liquidy, it dries quickly and is packed with pigment. I use the same blotting technique for this lipstick and get the same soft look. They usually price it at $6.
