The Friend Series: Making Music with LOV (An Interlude)

Attending The New School has its perks and having extremely talented friends is one of them. This week, I’ll be focusing on a good friend of mine, Ryan Hunt aka Ryan Hunty aka LOV. I met Ryan last year in our women of color feminism class and we clicked right away. He was tall, extremely “woke”, and one of the most recognizable Leo’s I’d ever met. I hadn’t known that he made music until we were halfway through the second semester when he invited me to come see him play at The Sidewalk Cafe.

He got his start at seven-years-old when he wrote a song about his cat because his parents were threatening to take him away. Thanks to his cat, he began to grow a love and passion for songwriting. Ryan didn’t start to actually make music until he realized his skills while making mashups in GarageBand and decided to use that for his own musical agenda. Since then, Ryan, or should I say LOV, has become a talented independent musician and has released five singles and an EP since beginning his music career.

His music is fun, melodic, and always has a message to send. You can find yourself dancing wildly to it at three a.m. or listlessly staring out of the window on a rainy day. You can find his music on Soundcloud, iTunes, and Spotify. There’s more to come about my dear friend on Friday, so stay tuned!
