I am very familiar with dry skin and how to effectively moisturizerize it better than most. Why and how you ask? Well, I have naturally very dry skin and loved ones that suffer from eczema. The combination of the two, has taught me a thing or two on products that work and how to effectively choose one for those needs.
One of the most important things I learned, is like every other post I write, water is key. When one battles with severe dry skin, psoriasis or eczema, it is critical that water is consumed constantly throughout the day, it helps better than any product to keep the problem from becoming much worse.
Next, you have to know when to use what product. I personally use different products in the summer time, than I do in the winter time. Because the winter weather will create different problems for your skin with the dry arid air, than humid hot air will create in the summer, it’s important to use products that are targeted for that type of weather.
Lastly, knowing how to apply the product is also important. I like to leave my skin damp after my shower, so I don’t remove all of the water from my skin. Next I apply my moisturizer to my damp skin, this helps to lock in the moisture so that the skin absorbs as much of it as possible.
Nic TIp: Exfoliate dry, parched skin once a week to remove dead skin, leaving new skin. I like to be simple with my exfoliating and I use a dry wash cloth and rub VERY GENTLY in a circular motion. Voila! New, beautiful skin is revealed. Try some of these products for your moisture needs:
Eucerin: I’ve literally been using this product for years and I love it beyond measure. I like that there are different products for different needs. They offer thick, creamy lotions, and thinner lotions, that still provide all day moisture. Iuse the thinner lotions in the summer (they even have one with SPF), and I use the thickr creams in the winter months. My skin looks nourished, and feels soft and supple 365 days a year. www.eucerinus.com or available fromany drugs

Coconut Oil: I’m pretty sure I’ve written about he great benefits not only for cooking with coconut oil, but also using it on the hair and skin. On the skin coconut oil is magic because the skin absorbs it, rather then the oil just sitting on the skin. This is important for two reasons: 1) you know your skin is getting the moisture it needs and 2) as a woman who wears silk almost everyday, it doesn’t leave oil marks on my beautiful clothes. You can grab a jar of coconut oil from any vitamin store, walmart, target, supermarket, you name it. Look for organic, unrefined, raw coconut oil.
