This past year I’ve truly forgotten how much I love reading. Between all of the classes I take, and the readings that come along with them, I haven’t taken the time to really enjoy a book in a while. This summer, though, I plan on changing that. I want to share with you my (ever growing) “to read” list for the summer. I also wanted to take this opportunity to tell you about an amazing discount website for books!
Thriftbooks is a website that was created to sell books at a cheaper price. With prices starting as low as $3, you’ll rarely find a book that you just can’t afford. I say this because this is where I’ve gotten a lot of my books from over the years, and it’s amazing. You get your order(s) in a timely manner and they’re very upfront with the conditions of said book(s). With that being said, and thanks to Thriftbooks, here are a few books I’ll be purchasing for the summer.
Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman
Probably the most noteworthy book on this list, we have Call Me By Your Name. Yes, I’m aware that I’m probably a year late with this book, but honestly am I? It’s basically a classic now. I saw the movie and fell in love with the beauty of their story and its home immediately. After finding out it was a book, obviously I had to put on it on my list for the summer, it’s perfect. Summer romance in Rome? Yes, please.

All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
While summer romances are great, this one is a little heavy for a summer read but I’ve heard amazing things about it and am really excited to read it. Just as a little synopsis, courtesy of Thriftbooks: “At the heart, a big one of All the Bright Places lies a charming love story about this unlikely and endearing pair of broken teenagers.” I know it sounds like another John Green novel but you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover (pun intended).

Spring Fire by Vin Packer
A story of forbidden love? Sold. Oh, sorry, a lesbian story of forbidden love? SOLD. This book follows two young women at a sorority who just might happen to be into each other. It’s the first paperback novel to have a plot focused on a lesbian love story, which is amazing considering the fact that it was written in 1952!

Summer Days and Summer Nights: Twelve Love Stories by Stephanie Perkins
If you couldn’t tell by the plots of literally all of these books, I’m a sucker for romance. This book is a collection of twelve short love stories that take place in the summer, it was practically made for summer reading. Summer’s a great time to fall in love, why not get in the mood with a few cute love stories?

Grace: A Memoir by Grace Coddington
Last but not least, a memoir by the queen herself, Grace Coddington. If you consider yourself a lover of fashion, you’ll know who Miss Coddington is. Mainly known for her role as the Creative Director (at large) for American Vogue and Anna’s right-hand woman, people forget that she had a different life before Vogue. You get to know Grace on another level and a chance to love her even more than before with this memoir.
