New Emoji. Who ‘dis? If you know me, you know I can’t send a text without including at least 1 emoji. I love them. So of course once I heard that Unicode Consortium, the company that approves and standardizes emojis, are going to update my beloved Emoji keyboard with 230 new emojis, I was super excited! Thanks Unicode 🙂
Emoji people
So what new Emojis can we expect? Unicode has approved the new Emojis to include gender inclusive couples for people that don’t identify with a gender, more people with disabilities to include a deaf person in different skin tones, Emojis with prosthetic mechanical limbs, a service dog and couples of different genders and races holding hands.

Emoji food, animals and symbols
When I text my husband to bring home something from the grocery store on his way home, he gets an emoji. So I’m super thankful that Unicode is adding a head of garlic.
The popular keyboard app is also adding a period symbol- which was heavily pushed for by period activists to help allow young girls getting their period for the first time to feel normal about their changing body. Also being added, a white heart (one of the most requested Emojis says Emojipedia), and an otter.

Thee new Emojis have been trickling out since Apple’s iOS update on February 5th with 70 available now and the balance coming very soon. Which one is your fav? I’m loving the service dog and the 1pc swimsuit… for obvious reasons.
