The first sign of a pumpkin spice anything, signifies the beginning of fall these days. With it comes boots, super cute tailored coats and leather jackets. Low humidity means this natural hair woman, has great hair days too! But fall also means that the weather will start to get cool, then cold as fall turns into winter. My favorite part of the fall, is all of the off season travel deals that start to happen. That plus, traditionally HOT climate locals, become cooler and make for a perfect fall get-a-way.
My husband and I are travelers always looking for a great travel deal, or amazing place to add to our travel wish list, and well fall…and winter (a post about my fave winter locations will happen in the winter), bring about some of the best times of year to visit great places. There are fewer people, lines are shorter at all of the travel spots, off season prices are in full effect for air fare and lodging, and you really get a chance to experience the city at a pace that let’s you take it all in, in the most relaxing way.
Check out my top 5 fave get-a-way locations. Some I’ve been to, and some are definitely on my travel wish list.
Tulum, Mexico (travel wish)
Tulum is a town on the Caribbean coastline of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. It’s known for its beaches and well-preserved ruins of an ancient Mayan port city. With temperatures that reach into the high 80’s with very high heat indexes, going in the fall will give some relief with an average of 72 degrees in the fall months.

Athens, Greece (been there)
We went to Athens on our honeymoon last October and loved it! We were concerned at first because everyone kept telling us that it was “off season”, which seemed to be code for ‘you won’t have a good time’. It couldn’t be further from the truth! The weather was perfect, more mild than cold. We even got a few beach days on the Med, and because it was off season, there were just 8 people on the beach…including us.
Athens is an amazing fall get-a-way!
Miami, Fl (been there)
I love Miami for so many reasons. One being I grew up in south Florida and still have family there; Miami just feels like home to me. The other reason this local is on the list is because the summer months can be a bit rough in terms of temp and humidity. But in the fall, Miami becomes an entire different feeling. It’s cool, and tolerable and it makes you want to live outside. There are so many outdoor activities and with the temperatures being literally perfect, fall is the most beautiful time of year to visit, imo. There are also usually great flight deals to be had, making this the perfect place to go.
Miami Beaches are perfect in the fall and the water feels perfect.
Thailand (travel Wish)
Thailand is a Southeast Asian country. It’s known for tropical beaches, opulent royal palaces, ancient ruins and ornate temples displaying figures of Buddha. In Bangkok, the capital, an ultramodern cityscape rises next to quiet canalside communities and the iconic temples of Wat Arun, Wat Pho and the Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaew). Nearby beach resorts include bustling Pattaya and fashionable Hua Hin. Thailand can be brutal in the summer months, but come fall (as of November), it becomes tolerable and you’re far more likely to enjoy the pristine beaches and jungles.
Beautiful Thailand is a perfect fall get-a-way
Colombia (been there)
The South American country is rich with natural beauty and amazing fruits and veggies. The people are so generous and kind, we literally didn’t want to go home. The temperatures are reaching boiling point in the summer, but come fall they taper off and the mild air lends to some really beautiful experiences.
The sunsets in Colombia are some are one of my favorites in the world.
