I grew up in Florida. There are a few perks that come along with that fact. I know good beaches, I love the water, I love outdoors, and I know how to dress for hot, humid weather. Now that I live in New York, some may think that knowing how to dress for hot humid weather would go to waste. Boy are you mistaken. It is so hot and humid here in the summers, I often feel like I’ve never experienced heat like this before! What makes it so bad is that there is so much concrete and the sun heats it. So the heat comes from the hot, dry heat from the blazing concrete on the ground and from the sun up above. There is literally no escaping it. To make matters worse, it’s such a pedestrian city, that we are always walking. Great for your heart, but bad for your blowout.
So how do you dress to accommodate for this stifling heat? Very carefully. I like to wear lite colored, loose clothing made from natural materials. The looser they are, the more circulation you can get and if there is any sign of a breeze, it will aid in keeping you even cooler.
