So we’re in the full throws of winter. My lips are dry, peeling, and chapped it seems like 24/7, and honestly, I’m not the one to walk around with lips that look and feel like that. Putting on any color lipstick is impossible if your lips are peeling like mine; you’ll just get a very cakey, super unattractive look…which isn’t cute at all.
When my lips are dry, all I want to do is just to either lick them, or constantly put on lip balm. Licking them is not good because it only provides temporary relief and once they drive, they feel dryer than when you first started. Depending on the lip balm that you use, it can actually have ingredients in it that dry it out more. So basically you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
In light of this, I’ve tried everything: I put lotion on them at night, it didn’t work so great for me. They still peeled, they just didn’t feel as dry. I tried an exfoliating lip balm, this helped the peeling, but not the dryness. I even tried old fashioned petroleum jelly…not the best idea ever.
Then I made my own lip scrub. It works perfectly so far. It keeps the peeling away while hydrating. It’s all natural, and best of all I had all of the ingredients in my kitchen cupboard (mainly because I was making 10 million cookies at holiday time and have a ton of sugar left but that’s another story.)
Nic’s Lip Trick Recipie:
In a small jar mix tougher:
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1 teaspoon evoo
2 teaspoons of honey
1 vitamin liquid-gel tablet of fish oil (cut open and oil drained into above mixture until gel capsule is emptied of fish oil)
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together until combined. Apply to lips and use sugar granules to gently exfoliate while honey, olive oil and fish oil will hydrate and moisturize leaving supple, soft lips. Do as needed before applying lip sticks and lip glosses.
