Bandage Please

Body con. Bandage dresses. Fitted Dresses. Call them what you will. This style of dress is perfect in the Summer for pool parties and beach get togethers, and  can be transitioned to the fall and winter with ease. But how do you wear it in a tasteful way, or if you’re not a teenager anymore? The trick here is layering. This dress can give so many different “moods”, that it emotes a new feeling with each one of them. Let where you’re going, dictate how you dress it up or down.

Take a look at a couple of style options and see how we played with the style  of this dress in our NYC studios.

Add a Blazer: Adding a blazer tothis body con style with tight and ankle boots. sandals or pumps is a great way to transition this dress from day to night or office to cocktails. The blazer helps to decrease some of the va-va-voom while you’re in the office. Feel free to add a bold necklace or bracelet. A leather jacket would look great with this too and gives it a totally different feel from the blazer. Blazer: Zara Shoes: Gucci Tights: Kate Spade Dress: Century21

Add Tights: The power of tights is remarkable. By simply adding them to a fitted dress, you immediately become more covered up, which gives a different, more fall like feeling to this dress. For summer, you’d most likely do a bare leg with sandals or pumps. In this printed version, I kept my accessories simple, but you can easily add a cuff or a bold necklace. Red lipstick really makes this black and white graphic print stand out, so do the red nails.

You could also add a fitted turtleneck underneath if it’s a bit colder outside, or a black chunky sweater over it, making it look like just a skirt. the sky’s the limit with your options for this dress. DOn’t be afraid to experiment, just look in the mirror before you leave the house. xoxo.
